The Military Policeman while stationed "stateside" would wear the Army dress class "A" uniform at times. The major differences would be the wear of a special White saucer hat with green and gold trim. There would be an old style belt with leather shoulder strap this would hold the MP's equipment, 45 Pistol (with white shoulder cord), night stick, leather ammo pouch holding two magazines, whistle, handcuffs, and of course the Military Police Brassard. Bloused highly shined combat boots would be worn as well with matching pants and light brown shirt, with tie.

Class "A" Dress Green coat which has hardly changed to this day. This coat by its blue fourragere is that of an infantrymen. Note the "Combat patch of the 9th Infantry Division on the right shoulder. This is the prestigious emblem that the soldier may wear his old units patch on this sleeve for the rest of his career. The cross hatch marks on the bottom sleeve each denote 6 months in a Combat theater the diagonal marks on the left sleeve signify time in service one for each 4 year period. The collar brass right is the US insignia left is the insignia for MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) for enlisted personal.

This is the summer class "B" uniform of the soldier during the 50's,60's and into the 70's, Note there is no Unit patch worn on the shoulder this and the absence of hash marks is about the only difference, round this with matching pants and if Airborne or Military Police on duty highly shined bloused combat boots.
